# Learning Design

Learning design is the process of creating educational or training materials and experiences in a systematic and efficient manner. It involves analysing the needs of learners, defining learning objectives, designing, and developing instructional materials and activities, and evaluating their effectiveness.

At Sentient we ensure that every digital module - whether for a standard induction or a complex mixed reality similuation - is data driven.

Sentient's Training XR service places learners at the centre of all our training solutions, from eLearning modules to immersive VR and AR environments.

Our goal is to create learning experiences that enable learners to acquire new knowledge and skills while being actively involved in the process.

With the help of your SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), our in-house instructional designers apply principles of adult learning to all our products to ensure learner needs are met, materials are engaging, and training environments match the real world.

Learners can take knowledge gained and apply it with confidence to improve their workplace performance.

### What is Learning Design?

Learning design is a systematic process of creating learning experiences informed by principles of adult learning theory.

### What Makes your Learning Design Unique?

Our learning design places learner needs at the centre and harnesses the power of AR, VR and eLearning to create engaging and immersive learning experiences.

### What Types of Learning Experiences are There?

Our learning experiences include self-paced eLearning modules, immersive VR training tools, AR experiences and often a blend of these technologies, where learners can explore enhanced, real-world environments.

### How Can AR and VR Training Enhance our Training Modules?

VR and AR offer high-level user engagement where learners are able to engage with and practice in a safe, risk-free environment. This immersion and the similarity to the real world enhance knowledge retention and reinforce skill development.

### Who are Sentient's Learning Design Services For?

Sentient’s learning design solutions support organisations introducing or scaling immersive training. We work primarily with energy, mining, resources and industrial clients who need XR-ready learning that aligns tightly to real-world work environments and procedures.

### How long does the learning design process take?

The duration varies from project to project. Elements such as the depth of content required, the number of modules, the level of custom graphics or simulation, and the review cycles all contribute to the timeline. Contact our team to discuss your plans.

### What is the Difference Between Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality?

The main difference between virtual reality and augmented reality lies in the environment. Virtual Reality (VR) replaces the real world with a simulated environment, making it an ideal environment for high-risk training, while Augmented Reality (AR) overlays digital elements into the real world, often via a tablet, phone or, more recently, smart glasses. Alternatively, there is mixed reality, which takes this a step further, allowing these digital elements to interact with the physical environment.[/vc_column_text][vc_gap][/vc_column][/vc_row]
