IIoT Solutions and Technology

IoT and IIoT (the Industrial Internet of Things) are rapidly evolving fields of wireless communication connecting a vast array of IIoT devices, ranging from smart sensors to industry-standard rugged transducers and end-user applications. As a leading Perth-based IIoT company, Sentient delivers innovative IIoT technology specifically designed for the Australian industrial landscape.

Our IIoT solutions are built on LoRA technology, using LoRaWAN protocol on the 915MHz Australian frequency band to provide a robust foundation for remote site monitoring and machine monitoring, even in isolated Australian environments.

Proven IIoT Projects in Western Australia

Sentient has successfully deployed multiple IIoT projects throughout WA, showcasing our reliability and industry proficiency. Key features of our IIoT technology deployments include:

  • Long-Range Connectivity: LoRa has been used to provide long-range wireless communication, crucial for remote site monitoring in geographically dispersed areas, common in Australia.
  • Secure LoRaWAN-Compliant Local Gateway: Installed to provide secure in-house communication, with the data being kept on the local Control Network and not being forwarded to a cloud-based application. This architecture helps to form a reliable remote site monitoring system.
  • Advanced Machine Monitoring: LoRaWAN-compliant Class A IIoT devices, including temperature and humidity sensors, pressure-based and ultrasonic level sensors, and vibration machine monitoring sensors. These IIoT devices have a battery life of 5 years and up, and a sampling period of between 10 minutes and an hour has been installed with success, optimised for efficient remote monitoring and RMM (remote monitoring and management).
  • Dynamic Sampling Rates: For some sensors, an auto update of the sampling rate (to provide quick updates to the operator if the sensor data changes) is enabled. This allows near-real-time updates, valuable for remote site monitoring.
  • Seamless System Integration: Our IIoT Technology has been integrated with MacroView, currently supervising the whole plant at these locations, to provide machine monitoring and trending facilities. The solution could also be used to provide data directly to most Control Systems or Historians if required. This positions Sentient as a key player among IIoT companies offering comprehensive RMM solutions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is IIoT?

IIoT stands for the Industrial Internet of Things. It refers to a network of smart sensors, instruments, and devices connected to industrial applications to monitor, optimise, and automate physical processes.

IIoT is commonly used in mines, refineries, utilities, manufacturing plants, and remote operational sites.

What are the Benefits of IIoT?

IIoT systems provide several key advantages, including:Reduced costs through predictive maintenance and fewer unplanned breakdowns

  • Increased efficiency and production output with real-time, data-driven decision-making.
  • Improved safety via continuous monitoring and early detection of issues.
  • Greater visibility across equipment, remote sites, and processes.
  • Scalability and remote access reduce the need for on-site intervention.
